SelAction

SelAction is a computer program that supports the design of animal breeding programs. The program predicts response to selection for multiple traits and rates of inbreeding for practical livestock improvement programs. To keep computation time short, SelAction uses deterministic simulation so that it can be used as an interactive optimisation tool.

SelAction was developed by Marc J.M. Rutten and Piter Bijma of the Animal Breeding and Genetics group, Department of Animal Sciences, Wageningen University, The Netherlands, in cooperation with the Roslin Insitute, Scotland, and with financial support from The Netherlands Technology Foundation (STW).

Conform the license agreement in file ‘license.tif’, this program is available to staff and students of the Department of Animal Science, Iowa State University, for non-commercial research and education purposes only.

Staff members and students of the ISU Department of Animal Science are allowed to make copies of the program, provided their use is for the same purposes as described above.

Use of this program for any other purpose is strictly prohibited and will require a separate license, which can be obtained by contacting:
